need hp and who's online
alright here is the deal, my friends little brother has a 265 hp MR2. I need more hp out of my 89 GTU, I just put in a new motor, so I don't want to go into the internals right now. Is there anything I can do to get more Hp with out going inside? I plan on sending the old motor off to get ported or maybe buy the template and do it myself, yes I've heard bad idea.
here is what I have done so far to the new motor.
1 electric fan replaced the engine fan 92 stanza fit fine
2 8mm plug wires
3 new plugs
4 racing beat presilencer
5 2 1/2 inch exhaust
6 soon to have turbo mufflers. Noise is of no consern
7 k&n air filter
8 getting underdrive pulleys for alt. and ps.
I also wanted to see who is going to repond at 10:30 on a sat. night.
If you can think of anything I need or have left off let me know. I also want to know about a header. racing beat said no use now wait til hop up motor, said may lose power on bottom end or top or both until motor is hopped up any body prove otherwise?

I am not an NA guy myself, but I can say you'll need a pretty big streetport to beat a 265hp MR2, is that flywheel or rwhp? Take off your AC and PS, and take off as much weight as possible. Also, get some good tires for Christmas sake.

you will never get more then 200 PEAK hp out of a stock port N/A. and not only does that mr2 have 265 peak, it'll have alot wider power band. it'll spank you unless you go turbo

262 hp? thats quite a lot for such a small car... Good luck... i would go with the craziest Periperal Port that the guy porting would dare to do... Ceramic coat the housings and rotors, get those light weight race rotors, race spec e shaft, and a tach that will go to 11k rpm... then pray nothing falls apart... thats what u can do without any induction...
N20 or turbo is the only other way to beat 262 hp especially if that is rwhp... maybe u could try running really really short gears.

Oh yea the reason He is still stock class Is no one knows what he has and he has not pressed the car to the limits of its abilities. The fuel computer is still not quite right

Haven't we ALL heard this
If you want that much power from your NA. Than open the exhaust (Straight thru), remove every acc. you don't need, open intake. Then to make sure you can tune it get a Haltech.
Or, turbo it and don't tell your friend

yes.! It is not a chevy so they can't tell that the shinnnyy stuff is not stock. The apexi unit is under his tv so they also think that is part of the radio. all they ever do is shake the battery and look at the tires.

A lighter flywheel is probably what you wanna look at next - might as well upgrade the clutch to an ACT while you're at it.
Next is gonna be getting rid of anything and everything that adds weight to the car.... and I mean EVERYTHING!
That MR2 is still gonna spank you regardless.. spank you like a baaaaad puppy dog.

thanks guys. Hey I saw a 1952 porsche spyder replica this weekend at a car show in vicksburg. The reason I am talking about it is it had a 87 13b motor in it. He had racing beat intake, with a weber carb and some kind of headers. It sounded real good and he said it ran good. He used a edelbrock ceramic muffler on his and it has not burned up so might try that. I want to do one now except order a J spec andd use haltec. This would be so fast and so cool what do you guys think.

I have seen the supercharger kits and don't like the fact that you have to convert to carbs. Mustand more corectly Salen has a kit that keeps the same injection system, and still charges it. I believe it is a centerfugal charger. mazda needs some R&D here. thank you for all your change $.04 is all I got? thought more people would care about hp.

as far as losing the weight I am not going to cut anything off the car until I lose weight first. I weigh way more than anything that I could take off the car. I want to move the battery to the back of the car on the passengers side to offset the weight of me the driver. Of course I weigh like 275 so not really going to even it out.
