Question Need help with sensors on oil pan

On my T2, I noticed that one of the electrical connectors to one of the sensors on my oil pan has fallen off and is currently NOT plugged in. Its the one that, if you standing at the drivers side front fender and checking your oil and look straight down....its the SENSOR on the LEFT SIDE (staring down from where the OIL dipstick is), NOT THE RIGHT. Is that the Oil temperature sensor? Its got a single wire going to it and that wire is totally RIPPED OFF right at the sensor. My question is whether this is doing some sort of damage or feeding my computer wrong info or MISSED info by NOT having this sensor working? Should I replace it right away or wait until my next OIL change?

It is the oil thermo unit, but it's only function is to provide the signal for the cold start system(anti-freeze injection).Mazda issued a TSB years ago to disconnect this system.I would not worry about it.

The sensor you are speaking of is the oil thermo sensor. I checked both my wiring diagram and shop manual and found no information on it. I do not know what it connects to, it doesnt connect to the oil level light or the egi computer. However, if this helps any, it is NOT on a JSpec oil pan. So, the car must run fine without it. I would change it, but I don't think it is causing damage to your car. Im sure that you can find one from someone at any used parts forum.
