Need help removing aftermarket stereo.

Okay, I've got a Pioneer headunit, problem is there's no reception on it. I've got to take the unit out and hook it up to the proper connections (my windshield antenna).

Can I just pull it out really hard, or is there some sort of finesse I'll need?

Two options for ya. The easiest is if you have a pioneer unit keys, or if you have a friend with a pioneer deck, adn they still have the box/keys. All you do is pull of the trim, stick the keys in, and slide the unit out.

Second, and not too hard at all is removing the center console. this one will take about 10 minutes, and 1 phillips head screwdriver. pop the vents out above the HVAC controls, undo the two screws behind them. Pull out the ashtray, ther ewill be two more screws under there. Remove the shift ****, and pull the shift **** surround up (its held down with pop-clips, so just pull straight up). This will expose two more screws, if I remember right. Either that, or the shifter surround just holds the console down. Either way, you'll have to remove it. After that, just pull the whole unit straight forward, there will be 4 pop clips holding it down, so you'll need to use a little tiny bit of force.

You CAN just pull really hard.. but you're going to break a lot of stuff, and most likely get mad at you later after break everything and have to buy a new stereo surround, possibly stereo, and who knows what else.

Wonko, that work perfectly! I broke the vent cover thing, but hey, I'm good wtih making invisible seams of epoxy and the like. I would have had to take it apart anyway. I now need a little adapter from radioshack, but that can wait. This boy's got a hot date and needed a working radio, cuz Judas Priest ain't what she likes!

Thank you!!

The mast antenna will give you better reception than the windscreen antenna. You will only be able to use one of them with an aftermarket head unit, so it might as well be the best one.
