let's make this easy..If you have a 4 lug N/a..sell it!(heh..j/k..or swap to 5 lug)..after you have 5 lug wheels, then it's brakes.TII brakes..then the TII Engine, trans, driveshaft,DIFF,and half shafts..Make the engine a "whatever'...Stock,ported..whatever your heart desires..get a Big Snail, and a standalone....total investment, from an N/a to a "built to a TII"' is a varying 4-10K..(that is to account for where you want to get parts, how much you paid for them, and If you are installing yourself or paying to put them on).

Wow, another thread from a broke, clueless person who tries to pretend he is a rich uber mechanic, and refuses to spend his own time researching the website yet expects the forum members to contribute all of their time to his silly whim... and then has the nerve to call US cocky.

Troll go away.

Before I'd put a nickel into an '86 na, I'd have to be absolutely sure the shell was virtually mint. I used to live in the Pennsylvania rust belt and unless you're a big fan of body work, it is no fun chasing rust in a unibody car, which is why my first FC is now gone. I believe the OP is in Canada somewhere so this could be an issue.

Another thing you might want to keep in mind is that if you invest $16,000 in building up an FC na to turbo conversion, you will be lucky to be able to sell it a year later for $6000 if you decide you don't want it anymore. In other words, it is cool to do this for the love of the car, but don't expect to get your money back out of it.

If I were you I'd drive and enjoy the '86 na until you have the $16,000 saved and then buy a nice low miles FD, or a nice S5 TII and save the rest of the money for upgrades and repairs.

what condition is your car in? it would probably be better to buy a 91 turbo II in good condition and start with that. since you said you prefer fc's

back from the dead.

Well i would admit that you were all mostly right.... i was in way over my head when i posted that, and will gladly admit I didnt know to much about them then... but I did have more than a couple grand to play around with... besides the point!!!! I am on this site almost every day looking at posts and wasting my work day away so I do know a lot more now then I did before. I drove the car all summer, but I ran into some problems here and there and most of the people who posted on this (bashing me, thank you ) had good posts to help me get my car running again. I have already done the 5 lug swap. Now this is where is gunna be fully honest with everyone! I have 2500 in hand right now and will have another 3500 in january. I would like to put a new motor in it with a streetport, likely small. I am not overly interested in a turbo because I think I can make 300 hp without it. Now my NEW question is..... Where can I find a good rebuileder that can build me such a motor... in canada would help too.. Also, the body is in great shape, I have no issues there.... I just want to know if I can make a somewhat reliable (ok ok i know what your all gunna say....) car for the price range I have given.... and what I should do with my money installments (2500 then 3500) thanks to all in advance to all that still want to help....... and sorry for being a ****** noob haha

Your $6k budget doesn't get you within sniffing range of a 300 hp NA, especially given that you're planning on paying someone to do it for you.

You're also still making the #1 noob mistake of picking an arbitrary number- in this case 300hp- and pinning all your dreams on it.
I assume- with no real reason- that you want to end up with a quick street car (you do keep mentioning "reliability" after all)...allow me to be the one to tell you that 300 hp is probably the worst way to get there.

Take your money and spend it on suspension, tires, brakes and finally, driving lessons.

Your pathetically underpowered NA with such improvements will be faster in 90% of the scenarios you're likely to encounter than a stock chassis with 300hp and a normal driver.

Until you can fully exploit the car as it sits, more power to the wheels is completely wasted and in fact, counterproductive.

why not build up the car you already have without going turbo since you say you want reliability scratch your goal of 300hp dont just focus on power. Do the work yourself save yourself the money rather than paying a mechanic but if you have no clue what you are doing do research if you still have no clue then pay a mechanic. dont just focus on motor do suspension, safety upgrades such as good seats with a good harness ,brakes, wheels, tires and so on... but thats just what i would do its your car do what you want to it.

edit: oops didnt read your post clokker didnt mean to post almost the same thing.

I do have suspension upgrade, all new spings(lowering) and shocks, I do have racing seats and a wheel to match it, not that it matters. 300 is what I would like, not what i would need. I do the work myself, not by a mechanic. This isnt the first car ive built, but is the first rotary. I am looking for help, not hate. All im looking for is some good matches with parts (using you preveious experince) Remember, you are the people who have tried and tested so many parts and I just the one who wants to know which ones work well together and which ones to start with.

it had a drift suspension but what im really looking for is to beat a boosted golf vr6 (bet a friend and myself have). It will be on the track from time to time but mostly a daily driver that needs the power to make most honda ricers cry... Now ricing up a honda is common around my area (dont ask me why) Most of them suck more than a hooker trying to score some crack but some of them are ****** quick.... a good 300-400hp... thats why im trying to get around that... I will go with a turbo if its easier but im not sure it would be.

edit: MY GOAL IS 300 BUT 200 OR 250 SET UP PROPERLY WILL MURDER THESE RICERS. I HAVE AN ADVANTAGE BECAUSE THE COURSE HAS 6 TURNS IN IT.

ItsFun your not really understanding. your car is a base model rx7 meaning anything past 200hp will need turbo.. that means ALOT of parts that need to be replaced and if money is no issue as your title states.. you are starting off with the wrong car i will be posting a thread within the next couple of days and you can see everything that was required for me to do what i did lets just say it takes alot

and reason your not getting any realistic replies... you sound like your 17 just got your first car and want to race as that might not be the situation thats what it sounds like before you start a thread an start asking questions of how to build a 1300hp rotary down to a 300hp rotary you need to read and read alot! there's much information on the forums not only in the FAQ section but on other websites aswell such as http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2ndgen/techmenu.html has very useful info

Thanks tweak. Im not 17 but not far off. Im 21 and manage a multi million dollar business (make food for animals hahah go canada country) so thats wehre all my money is from. The seven is my 7th car, ironic. I thought i might be able to get a lot of hp out of a new rebuilt streetport without having to turbo it... and i dont mind going turbo but if i was able to aviod it i would of. Again thanks for the post, i will be checking out what you did when you post it.

you make my head hurt.

continue to read and do research.. post again in a year.

and just because you work for a multi million dollar company, doesnt mean you have millions. anyone that works at a call center for a bank or even a fast food chain for that matter, works for a multi million or even billion dollar company.

trust me if I had millions I wouldnt be on this forum. Im pretty sure I followed my sentence with thats where i get my money from, did I not? It was merely to state the fact that i do have extra money kicking around and if you have read my post from before, (you do know how to read, right?), you would have seen the two amounts I want to start with. Nice last name tho Mr. Simon, that we have in common.
I will be doing a turbo swap, seems easier then trying to squeeze what I want to achieve out of a natually aspirated.

my point was that bragging about what company you work for, doesnt mean ****. also there is a difference between doing and talking. 2500+3500 is meh. take that 6k and buy an already built car. a factory turbo car that has been cleaned up and lightly modded. much easier and you will be much happier.
