Need help!! Fuel Problems

Hey guys. I am just wandering if anyone has ever encountered this problem. I have a 1988 Rx7 Vert, and its a daily driver for me... anyway, I will drive it for an hour or two with no problem, no fuel smell in the cabin. after a short while over a couple of hours, I'll start smelling gasoline in and around the car. I've looked for leaks, can't find any. I was wondering if I need to replace the pulsation dampener, or any other parts on the fuel system. I also get horrible gas mileage, about 10-15 mpg right now, and I know the car is supposed to get about 20 mpg. any information to help me figure it out, or if I'm correct about the pulsation dampener, would be great. Thanks
