Need Help...fc Dying?

well, i was on my way to meet up with a friend. it's an hour drive on the expressway, and half-way there, my car started to act stupid.
i was cruising at about 120km/h (approx. 70mph) and all of a sudden, the car starts bogging on me. i hear the exhaust popping. and my air/fuel ratio gauge is hanging out on the lean side...it doesn't bounce like it should.
so i get off at the next stop and turn around and head back home. driving home, the car is bogging the entire way. and i'm left scratching my head about how or why this happened.

i've had countless big fuel cut scenarios happen..heck, it even happened after the installation of an FCD. could all these times this happened killed the motor?
i think it's been overheated before (not sure?) and it also blows white smoke from my exhaust. that's coolant right?
another notable thing i noticed when i pulled the dipstick to check the oil, i found a hard dark-coloured particle on the stick. it was hard, like a rock...anyone have a clue what it could be?

so now i'm thinking about doing a complete rebuild on the motor or just swapping in a new one. is this the right thing to do? i want it to last, not just some quick fix job that will come back to haunt me one day.

is there anything that i can do to find out if i need a rebuild? last time i checked compression, it read 71 in front and 68 in rear.

Better rebuild it now, if it lets a seal loose your cost (if doing it yourself) will go up due to rotor/housing damage.

Sounds like you have some fuel starvation problems, maybe a bad pump or filter or screen. That or some electrical/grounding issues.
