Need help deciding

Hi everyone

I'm new to the forum and i'm about to buy a 1989 non-turbo FC from a buddy of mine for 1400$ with 90k miles as a daily driver. I was just wondering if theres any common problems with this car and hows the gas mileage on it because my v8 sucks. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance

Gas mileage isn't great. 18-22 mpg is what I get. They are really fun to drive though. Sounds like a good deal. I would do a compression check before buying. Do a search on checking compression.

^ Specifically, search the FAQ for a buyer's guide and gas mileage numbers. Besides reliability, you'll get better mpg (i.e., same as stock EPA rated) if you avoid lemons.

Besides the critical stuff that a buyer's guide covers, common problems include the thermostat, fuel pulsation dampener, logicon (and other minor electronics) and DTSS. Search for more info. All of those are minor if you catch them early.
