Need Help with AC pulleys

I was driving home today after getting something to eat when I heard like this thumping sound so I pull into my drive way and pop the hood. The ac belt had flipped its self and was barely sitting on the pulleys. I went to loosen the pulley so i could move the belt and the bolt snapped! So i go to losen the main huge bolt on the actual pulley and guess what, it snapped too! Now this was on the small pulley thats not actually connect to anything its just used to tighten everything but still I cant use it anymore. So my question is, will it be ok to run my car without a belt on the AC pulley? And will I still have heat?

haha! sorry, i don't have an answer, but i just wanted to compliment you on that great pic! i clicked thinking i was gonna see an underhood pic, then that popped up! heh, cracked me up. anyways, i'm wondering the same thing. my A/C has some sort of leak, not that i'd ever use it anyways, and i was gonna remove the belt only until i had the chance to actually rip the entire A/C out of there. would that be okay? what about with the air pump?

naw, i hate the drive. my car still has a few quirks, too. as soon as i get this job (if that works out), i'm gonna talk with don and his brother about why my car isn't runnin right. that and get some new struts, they're shot! i was at hannah's b-day party last night, though. i did meet up at hooters on addison and midway the other night, but i was late and the majority of the group had already jet. you have aim? i'm 'casiokeys' if you wanna IM me.

i think you have to loosen the bolt on the front of the pulley before you can loosen the bolt that pulls it to make it tight...it did the adjuster bolt first too and snapped the bolt on my PS belt adjuster pulley. to replace that i just found a similar sized bolt at a hardware store.

To answer the question, yes, your car will run fine without that belt. Your AC will not work, but your heat still will - they're basically two different systems.
