need help.

i recently purchased an 86 rx7...and after driving it for about a week...the cars rpm goes up gradually. so...when i turn on the car, and while its in neutral...the rpm just keeps goin up and up w/o stoppin. someone help please. thank you.

Ehh..various possibilities. I'm not sure on the absolute fix, but on my T2, I took off the intake manifolds, and put it all back together with new gaskets, vacuum hoses, cleaned/modded the TB, etc..and it was fixed.

take off the intake and clean the throttle plate
its probably sticking

if that doesnt do it, check the play on the throttle cable and make sure its not too tight

I'm new here, but a common problem on my SRT-4 was the Throttle position sensor. Not sure how that applies here, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

Sounds like a vacuum leak tho, how does it idle?

My guess is the throttle cable is too tight.
