Need Help!?!?!?
I just got my fc a little while ago and the battery went dead, so I replaced it with a new one. Well, its been about 2 weeks or so after I put in the new one and now that ones shot to? Well, first I thought it may be the alternator but the warning light isn't on and I really have not ran the car that much since the new battery. I have been having this weird problem with my alarm though, it seems to go off every once and a while when I open the door up and I was wondering if this could have any connection with the dead battery? I also recently resolderd my CPU, could this have any thing to do with my current problem? If you have any other suggestions please list them. BTW it was a diehard battery and the car is a 87 TII.
any help would be appreciated,
Ryan

It could be the alternator. The battery light only comes on when the battery is being discharged. If the alternator is working properly, you can unplug the battery while the engine is running and the engine should keep running. Some people say that this could cause damage to your engine or computer. I've done it on many vehicles with no problem but if you do it and mess something up, I'm not responsible.
The other part of the alternator charges the battery. This part can fail while the alternator still runs the car. Eventually, the battery will die out from being used to start the car. It is possible that you have a short grounding out the battery, but check the easiest stuff first before you go chasing wires all around the engine bay.

Ok thanks after I get my new battery from sears tomorrow I am going to run an alternator check on the car, but the only reason I don't believe its the alternator is because I have only ran the car 3 times after the new battery was installed, do you think this is enough to run down the battery?
thanks again,
