need a fix for steering beeping/problem
I did some searching and found this:
"5-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of steering sensor signal: Steering sensor is mis-aligned or failed or steering wheel has been improperly installed."
The problem started after some jerk friend of mine who claims to know about rx-7s said the hub from my Miata would swap right over... long story short; the splines fit correctly but the depths are all wrong so I crushed some plastic when I began to tighten the hub bolt.
now I get 5 beeps whenever I go above 20mph. it goes away if I turn left really hard.
could it be a loose wire floppin around? is there something I can just cut and splice together to make the beeper think its all fine?

when you crushed the plastic... you crushed the steering wheel location sensor. On the back of the aftermarket steering wheel adapter there should be two holes that need to line up with the plastic tabs you crushed.
With any luck you will be able to remove the steering wheel and adapter, bend the tabs back up and correctly line up the tabs with the holes on the back of the adpater and it will work again.
If you messed it all up, and broke the tabs off or damaged the sensor, you will need to replace them, and then re-install the wheel with the adapter correctly lined up.

ordered the correct hub and pulled my factory steering wheel off again.
you were right; I cracked that little plastic ring with the two tabs and it was out of alignment.
it still functions properly so I reinstalled everything with the new hub and it doesnt beep any more... sounds like these rotary things have a beep for everything from what I have been reading.
