Need Everyones Opinion Please Help....

I have been reading and enjoying this forum for as long as I have had the net. I rarely reply or talk on threads because I lack the knowledge of most of my fellow rotorites, But by reading all your threads I feel that I have gained much knowledge about rotories and I THANK YOU for that. I desperately need all your help and opinions on this matter………..

I love my 1987 RX7 SE 2+2 it only has 90,000 miles on it and runs like new. It does however have the dreaded automatic transmission that works prefect but I am tried of it and need a change. I will have about 4K to spend on a new ride this summer but do not have a shop to work in so what do I do……..

A. Find a shop close to me… and have them swap the transmission to a 5 speed
B. Sell mine…. Buy a TII
C. Sell mine and buy a MK3 supra with TARGA
D Other ideas….

Keep in mind….. by the end of the year I want something FUN, FAST, RELIABLE, and have room for 2+2 (in case that third lady wants a ride

You need to better define 'Fast'.

If you gather all the parts and pay for the labor, the tranny swap shouldn't be more than $1000 total.

Get a TII and then swap the 2+2 seats into them. At least I think you can do that. Some of the other guys would know better.

Sell your car and buy a TII. If the 3rd lady wants a ride, she'll have to sit on the lap of the 2nd lady. If the 2nd and 3rd ladies are with you, then where is the 1st lady?

Well, with a lot of the remaining 3K, you could put on a full exhaust - header to mufflers, intake, upgraded ecu, electric fan, underdrive pulleys, better wires, etc.

This should drop your 1/4 mile down to low/mid 15's. Your reliability will stay the same. If that's not fast enough, though, you need to get a different car.

If you buy an NA mkIII Supra you're not going to do much better.

So, it's all about your goals for speed.
