Need Engine Smart Response

OK here is whats going on ...
On Occasion my Tac stops working ... but its not only my tac its my back 2 sparkplugs, the car (91 NA Rx7) was taken down to the Mazda Delership in Eugene Oregon and they said it was Crank angle sensor well I decided to take it to Corks Sports up in Portland befor I started on any of that, they hooked up the computer and diag. the car and said first lets replace the rear coil so we did and POOF its still having the same issue car is started and boom I loose my tac and 50% of my power not to mention my power band is shot to hell, then we move on to the crank angle sensor and replace that it worked again for about 15 min and POOF again tac goes down but the odd thing is if you turn off the key then turn it back on and jump it while its moving sometimes that will fix it and you get the tac back and the other 50% of the car LOL so then corks sports said change the ECU but come to find out its got a new ECU in it so IF ANYONE knows whats up or has any ideas plz let me know my email is d_kindell@hotmail.com
Thanks everyone for your help.

Out of the blue idea... maybe one of the harnesses is shot, when it heats up, it flex-es 1/1000" and cuts continuity.

To be honest it would suck trying to track this down though, so... its definately not this.

The tachometer (or tach) gets its signal from the trailing coil.

It should be very easy to see if the problem is the ECU or the coil. Simply read the signal coming from the ECU with your digital multi-meter, when the coil stops fireing.

If it is the ECU, you'll loose signal on either coil wire (blue/red & blue/yellow- 24 pin yellow plug at the ECU) when the tach dies. But if both are still providing a signal at the ECU, even though you have no tach and the coils are not fireing, then it is the coils or wires running to the coils.

Of course if you have no signal, then the ECU is the problem.
