Need auto tranny guru's!

Does anyone know if there is a vacume like, or any type of like, that runs from the automatic tranny on an S5 NA, to the engine? My car will bellow out smoke at the strangest times, never heavy at all while driving, it usually happens while stopped, and it doesn't smell like regular oil smoke to me, nor does it smell sweet like coolant smoke. And I have smeels auto tranny smoke before, when I used to unflood another RX-7 I had. And the car starts fast, doesn't seem to have week compression, and runs strong.

So it is making me think that it is burning automatic transmission fluid. And the guy I bought the car from, said the the previous owner (the owner before him) said that there was a valve that was letting auto tranny oil go into the engine, causeing startup smoke. I figured it was a load of BS, and the engine was just heading out. But now after driving the car for a while, the engine runs good, but the tranny slips like hell! Doesn't shift for ****, and the fluid has a very "burnt" smell to it. Along with the tranny having to be SEVERLY overfilled for it to even work (I mean like 2 quarts over!!!!) It is atleast 1-2" over the full mark on the dipstick. I have drained it down before, and if you do that, the car doesn't even move.

Anyways, back the original question, is there a vacume like, or any other lines that could let ATF into the engine to be burned?

Back of your intake mani, on the pass side, where the cruise hooks up.

I went an burnt my self a couple of times after I posted this thread, and found the one you refered to.

I unhooked it, and to my amazment, it doesn't smoke anymore!!! I don't know if it is just one of the cars fitts, or if it really was sucking ATF threw there, anyways, I went and bought a vacume cap set, and I'll plug that nipple as soon as it gets nice and cool.

Do you know what that goes to on the tranny?

Thanks Kevin!

Guess I should have read the date this was posted first.................... I know on the S4's it would be connected to the vacuum modulator on the transmission. They help control the shift They are known to rupture and would let fluid be sucked into the engine. I beleive they are about $35 or so at an auto parts store. Good luck

Sounds like your clutch disks are burnt. Probably a fluid change without a flush is what caused it. Your tranny is toast and your motor is fine. I had teh exact same problem in my S5 auto. Wnat to know how I fixed it? Replaced it with a TII 5 speed and called it a day. I've dealt with the **** before so feel free to PM me with any questions.

Wow.... bringin it back from the dead!!! I sold this car like 4 months ago..... Probably 5!

And it blew because I tried to do 140 MPH with it... and it only made it to 125!!! Then it started giving out, until I had to limp it hom with 2 gears doing 35 down the side of the interstate.....

And I fixed it with a TII swap wich lasted all of 200 miles... then the turbo engine blew, so I left the entire turbo drivetrain in, put the NA engine back with the S5 TII's flywheel (car was a 1990 vert). Called it a day, and sold it!
