need answers!! ASAP

the EGR valve under the manifold......i was wondering if i can block it off with the block off plate mazdatrix sells and know that my engine will be fine or if its not a good idea to do it....i have an s4 1987 N/A. ive been wanting to do it but dont know if its safe any suggestion is great thanks ooh and also if the 12A thermostat cover elbow would be able to replace the stock one my 13b has?

The EGR is completely useless. Case and point: Mazda removed them from series 5 engines when emissions laws allowed it.
