We just removed everything to swap the 1 pistons for 4s and we noticed the brake line fitting is different. I cant show photos, but from what I have read everything fit...

Swapping my single piston calipers for 4 piston calipers. The 4pots have a tappered in and the singles have a flatish fitting. They're different. I was curious what i needed.

go to google and search exactly this:

"1 piston to 4 piston brakes site:rx7club.com"

If you do it right, ONLY threads on the brake conversion should pop up

I have done that and never have I seen anyone mention needing the brake hoses from a turbo or 4 piston car.

4-piston brakes have the hardline coming off the caliper. Single piston's do not. The flexible portion is a different length and fitting depending on whether or not you have the hardline.

I have *heard* you can just remove the 4-piston hardline and just use the original single piston line/banjo bolt setup. I can't confirm that since I've never played with the single piston setup.

tHe fitting from the single piston brakes is really long and flat and the 4pots is shorter and tappered so I dont think it would work. And yes I noticed they have the hardline coming off since one of the calipers I got still had it attached but cut.

I can confirm that this does indeed work.

No tape or anything? Just snug it up and it won't leak?

It's a banjo bolt...it seals on the crush washers, not the thread.

The fitting doesn't go all the way in though. It's a lot longer than the 4 piston fitting. The washer that is on the fitting doesn't do anything at that point.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of what the OEM single piston lines look like, I assumed they were banjoes like the aftermarket braided lines.

Ok..lets' clear this mess up!
Single piston caliper flex lines go directly to the caliper and screw into the Caliper.
The 4 Piston caliper has a hard line that screws into the caliper.(short steel line about 8 inches long)...THEN it goes into a Flex line..then that Flex line goes to the Bracket at the inner fender and attaches to the LONG steel line that leads to the main brake distribution area(saying that because I am not sure if it master or Proportional valve)
you "can" get away with using the Single piston Flex line,BUT you have to make sure that you attach it to the caliper first and it doesn't Bottom out..So you may need 2 crush washers.
It does work.(yes I did it ).BUT it isn't the best option Safety wise.
the Ideal setup is get the small steel lines for the 4 piston calipers, eether from Mazda or buy 2 10 inch pieces with metric fittings and shape them yourself. You will need the 2 flex lines too.
about 20 some odd dollars Each Canadian.

Is there anything I can buy that will just bolt straight up -.-. Since my lines are rubber from the moment the hardline enters the fender well and then I believe split into two where the clip is? So I would need the 4 piston lines that go from the point of the clip(they're two pieces?) to the caliper, right?

I still didn't really understand what you guys are saying. misterstyx, you're saying to just get some crush washers and make sure the fitting doesn't go all the way in (so the ends don't crush eachother?)

I need to figure something out asap because my brakes are going to fail real soon, the piston doesn't release causing the pads to stick on the front drivers side and for the past month been waiting for 4pots to arrive and now nobody has lines locally and nobody seems to sell them used. I really need some advice.

Be patient is my advice.
If its that unsafe, isn't that a risk to you and your car, not to mention everyone else

Bikes are fun too. That is all

If you think your brakes are bad, why are you driving it?? Christ sakes.

Common sense would tell you leave it at home. You shouldn't f*ck around with brakes if you don't understand the consequences when it fails .
If you're not competant working on brakes, have someone do it for you.
It's not something you can flip a switch and the car will stop on it's own.

Ryan.NO offense Man,but you would be the guy to tap a Explosive's expert on the shoulder and ask "WTF are you doing?!!..what does that do?..the other day at Band camp..".BOOOOM!.Just ribbin ya man!
I gave you part numbers..Mazda has more than ONE Dealer in Canada and for God Sake!, I gave you RAY Crowe's Number!,Just in Case!
I bet you a THOUSAND Dollars, you take that Car INTO that Mazda you said "orders by the VIN", to get the brakes converted and Mysteriously Brake lines will appear Out of THIN air!
I just Got those parts from a dealer, with those numbers. So they can get them.
Take that list of parts ask for the Parts Manager(not the Coffee guy) Put the list in his hand and say " ORDER Them".
.............
Good luck.

I'll have to go when I'm not working -.-. Their parts department closes at 5pm.

It's not unsafe, the car brakes fine, it's after braking that sucks for my fuel economy and puts extra unwanted stress on my drivetrain and engine. Until it releases itself.
