Im New in this forum, I just bought a 1986 Rx7 non turbo! i got it for 1,500 its really clean especialy the engine it runs great! but i want to fix it i need more power i dont know how I Dont want to damage the engine. I was thinking about putting Nos What do you experts think? Also about Turbo but i think is better to get another car with the turbo on it allready!

What would you put first on a stock car!

 

Nitrous is an idea, but that stocker probably wont handle much more then a 75 shot.. Do a search, Scathcart devoted hours to writing a great tutorial about putting your rotary on the squeeze..

 

First of do routine maintenance - change all fluids, plugs, etc. Check all hoses, etc. Then you can start doing other stuff to increase performance. You can get a cone intake and a full exhaust to free up some power pretty easy. I don't reccomend adding nitrous until you have had the car a while and done all the other stuff you want to. There are many things to have to do before you get nitrous to avoid blowing the engine. As for adding the turbo, it is a long, hard, somewhat expensive proccess. It is much easier, and prob cheaper to get one that already has a turbo. For more info, check out the FAQ at the top of the page.

oilchange, fuelfilter, oil filter, plugs...and maybe wires....test them out

after that just take it smooth get used to her for a few thousand miles....

as for modds..if i were you this is what i would do in terms of modds...
its an NA so i mean i belive a nice thing to do is the RB FULL exhuast.... and a K&N filtercharger kit or custom iairbox.......wouldnt hurt....that would be a nice thing to modd....right there harmless the RB header i belive is Elite as well.....that would signifigantly make ur car feel different...

i dont know much about NA's sumthing about opening up the 6port stuff and like all that porting jazz.....but yea.....take care good luck and welcome!

 

Nah, about all you can do with the aux ports is keep them operating right. As for porting, you have to have the engine apart to do it.
