Narrowing down engine choices

My engine is currently on its last leg, and I'm in the process of deciding where to get it redone at. I am new to the rotary engine and have tried searching for some information but have come up with not much. What I am looking for: a good quality rebuild with some power. Money isn't a problem but I still got to keep it reasonable.

1. Street porting: I kind of got a grasp of what it is, but Would this be okay to have on a daily driven car (thats raced occasionally)?

2. When getting engine rebuilt what new parts should I use and what parts should I go ahead and upgrade?

3. Places that I should consider: Pineapple Racing, FC3S, MazdaRotaryEngines, MazdaRX7Engines, RotaryResurrection. Any others.

Some information if it makes a difference. I have an 86 NA GXL Automatic How I plan on driving the car: basicaly just around town during the week and pleasure rides on the weekend, take it to the track every so often.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, if I ever need any engine work done that I can't do myself, I'm going to go with Kevin @ Rotary Resurrection, mostly because I've done a ton of buisness with him, he's been patient with me when I've had hard times, and he's helped me considerably, and he is willing to do what he can for me at the fairest price there is. Heck, you might even get him to do the 5 speed conversion for you too, make it a really fun car

1. Street Porting is very streetable. You won't have any trouble using it as a daily driver.

2. Obvioulsy all seals need to be replaced. Most places put in new OMP's I believe. As long as the housings and rotors are good, no need to replace them. I dunno to much about what needs to be replaced though.

3. Pineapple is great. Rob even replaces the rotor housings with brand new ones. Does great upgrades to. And has long warrantees.
FC3S.org looks like they got a good deal going. Only downside is kinda short warantee.
Mazdarotaryengines, MazdaRx7engines (aka Atkins) has the best price I found and has a good warantee. $1995 SHipped for your motor.
Kevin @ Rotary Ressurection has the flat out cheapest prices, and I haven't heard anything bad. Only downside is he can't offer a warantee for the price.

Thats all I can help you with. Good luck.

If it is truly on it last leg rebuild it now. Once a Apex seal goes your looking at much higher costs. New housing, new rotor (at least 1 of each) and if its a Turbo car.. you can bet your Turbo will have eaten parts of the Apex also. ... ahh just noticed its a Non-Turbo so you don't have that worry about. Thats somthing to consider also .. if your internals are intact .. some places will do a rebuild cheaper. While other places charge a flat fee & eat the cost of the internal replacemnets.. but they typically cost more cause they have to eat alot of bad housings & rotors.

Thanks for all information. I don't like calling companies and asking about stuff I have no idea of. At least now I can actually have a competent (sp) conversation with person. I'll probably start contacting a couple of people tommorow.

None to worry about in my area. But thanks for the heads up.
