Narrowed down Idle problem......Just a little more help please!

Ok, the car will start and run without the TPS connected. I have done all sorts of tests on the omp, the pressure sensor, the AFM and the CAS and the TPS. All seem to be fine EXCEPT, the FSM says that I should have 1volt to 4.2 Volts at Pin 2A on the ECU. I am getting a STEADY 1.9 VOLTS. Is this acceptable or is this too low. Does this mean that the ecu is bad? Would this cause a problem with the TPS plugged in? It idles just fine with the TPS disconnected (just very very ricH). When I connect the TPS it dies.

Have you calibrated the TPS? If if dies when you plug it in, then the obvious thing is to make sure it is working.

It is calibrated to exactly 1 volt. I have tried 2 different TPS sensors both with the same result. I was thinking that it might be another sensor. The car starts and then dies immediately with the TPS connected. I know that the AFM does this same thing when it is bad or disconnected. That does not explain why with the AFM connected and the tps disconnected that it idles fine. I know that the computer uses the afm to run after the initial start (after 500 RPM). Without the TPS connected, I can slowly bring the rpm up as high as I want.

Smoking Gun?!!

OK I tested the outputs at the pins on the ecu. It looks like the one to the AFM (pin 2B on 89 Turbo II) is putting out 0 volts with the ignition switch to on. It is supposed to be approx 4 volts. Does this mean the ecu is toast?

when you plug in the tps if you push on the pedal will it say alive? if so try sweeping the throttle up to around 3k and see if the tps voltage smoothly sweeps to 4 volts

if the pcm was toast your car would not idle regardless of tps or any other sensor being pluged in/not pluged in

The car will not stay running with the TPS plugged in and it won't start and stay running with the TPS plugged in.
