Where you have the belt there is no way to adjust the tension. You can't run a belt from the water pump and engine pulley only. The belt that sits there normally should go from the air pump to the water pump to the engine pulley with the tension adjust on the air pump mounting bracket.

I've never seen a belt placed there on an FC. Take it off. If you have no air pump you need dual pulley alternator. Otherwise just go with one blet, though that's not always a good idea because you will likely get some slipping on the water pump at higher rpm. which could lead to some very bad things needless to say.

Looking at your photos I don't see an air pump actually, so you need to go with a dual pulley alternator. unless you want to re-install the air pump.
This belt is loose. Most other people running it claim it to be quite loose.

Dual alt pulleys aren't too expensive. Though I just bought an FD alt from SilverRotor with the pulley installed, so in my case it wasn't cheap exactly.

Or you can get a dual-belt alternator pulley on ebay for your FC alt. for less than $50. Just don't bid against me on the one I'm waiting for.

Oh, and those threaded posts on your water pump pulley can unscrew with some vicegrips if you're not using the stock fan. Those were all bent up on my FC when I bought it and I didn't know they came out until someone took them out for me at a local rx7 meet.

You don't HAVE to go with the dual pulley. You can put on the "lawnmower belt" or whatever it is and have it work. However, I wouldn't trust it that much. I ran with the lawnmower belt for a few months without any problems. But, I did upgrade to the dual alternator pulley.

Summary: Yes, it's possible to use that type of belt. No, I wouldn't recommend it. Get a dual alternatory pulley.
