does it seem to bog down? If so, then it's most likely the aux ports (which are the 5 and 6ers)

It has nothing to do with the 5th and 6th ports. Does it bog? Backfire? Stall? What year is the car? Did this just start? Hesitation? Does it do the 3K startup then idle at 1.5K for a while?

this is a 86 gxl project car and this is what it will do: starts when it wants which is about once every 15mins. when it does you have to hold on the pedel for a min then it will idle a little under 1000 then if i try to put it in gear or take the hand break off it will stall or cut off. then its back to square one. it us to rev to 3k the down to a 2k-2500k idle but it would rev past 3k before i put on a new throttle body and new injector incelators(spellcheck). i dont think it is "bogging" but it is making a funny noise

Sounds like multiple vacuum leaks are the first cause. Solve those, then test and adjust the TPS.

Oh God! This seems similar to my pain in the *** problem right now. My 86 gxl starts fine every time, and does the 3k accelerated warm-up, then idles fine at 1000-1250( I think the tps needs replacing). You can start driving and its all good and fine, then it will start stuttering and and losing power. The engine bogs and won't rev past 2000. It will still idle fine at 1k, but when you hit the gas, it just goes up to 2k and then bogs. I can't figure it out and have had the UIM off twice to search for vacuum leaks and bad grounds. Please someone tell me what to check next!?!

The vacume from the pressure sensor goes to the UIM on the side of the motor. There will be a small nipple that juts out of the UIM on the side right at the bottom, just above the lower intake, right above the ACV, I believe. This is NOT your problem. Look at Wayne88N/A's post. It has to have somthing to do with fuel or air or vacume leaks unless it hits a wall at 3800 rpm, then I would check your secondary injector connectors. I had a problem with these. If you seem to studder at higher RPMs, its vacume leaks, welcome to second gen FI hell. Get some new gaskets, smear some hylomar on them (use only a little and make sure not to get it in the intake ports!!!! light, thin coating on both sides of the lower intake to block gasket and UIM to LIM gasket) I was blown away at the difference a few nasty vac leaks can make.
