NA vs. TII NOT A FLAME WAR!
#52
Athough I have only seen NAs perform (and not drove/riden in one), I can only assume that they perform a little worse than when I got my TII (clogged exhaust so very-very little boost). Now that I've seen the light (of the boost ), I'd say TII, but just because I havent actually seen any nicely done NAs here in Greece....
....and its funny how you all bitch at each other "NA this" and "Turbo that", and you still end up loving each other

I would have to vote TII cause there is nothing like bolting on a BEEFFY T04 Turbo and 300hp and wow can you really take a look when you take off like a rocket car! cause man you nail on everybody i have beatten n/a's into the ground... don't get me wrong i like the n/a's and they are RX's non the less and they are fun to drive but i presonally think there is nothing like BOOST!!!
But the person driving a car is the car for them until they get a different one!! that simply so whatever you car as long as it is a REX good for you!!!
my 0.20$

TII = FAST......N/A = SLOW
I have had the honor of owning a 86 na, 90 gtu, 88 TII, 88 TII, and finally my 87 TII; in that order and as you can see the trend for me def. went turbo REAL fast. I guess I was totally hooked cause my first TII came with Racing beat full 3" exhaust and I ran 13.3 @ 104.5 on a stock S5 turbo, stock motor and stock intercooler.
If you own a Non turbo and have driven or ridden in a TII then you know what you are missing. If not, then you really need to take one for a spin before you scream N/A till ya Die. Now that I have a full T04 60-1 car I can pretty much say TII's kick major *** at the dragstrip and on the roadcourse, both of which places a N/A just couldn't compete. I guess the best analogy here is in Gran Turismo how the slow cars can still be fun to race cause it really relies on skill, but on the other hand, the really fast cars really just raise the bar a whole level.

okay, this is dead and nobody is going to notice my obscure opinion but... I have ridden in a turbo car, stock, and was impressed, until i heard the stories of cracked intakes, replaced turbos, etc... Now I have driven a n/a for over 100k and I drove the thing like its on the track all the time, its an 88, but i still rapped it out to eight a lot, did all I could to destroy the tranny (i. e. slamming it in first at 45 to come out of a corner), had only minor mods, straight pipe and ran no air filter, and still hung with and beat most cars. This car was indestructable! to this day i will not own piston powered pooper because, I am used to abusing my wankel. So for me it has to be N/A, because with enough mods (unlike my cheap jerry-rigs mentioned before) I will have a car faster than most, and the harder I drive it the happier it is.

I think everyone in here that owns an NA is going to vote TII just because of the boost factor. just wait til you try owning an abused one that has intake and exhaust and 200whp and try to use it as your daily driver.
you'd vote NA after that experience.
jsut get an NA as your daily driver and a TII as your weekend/project car.

putting it down daily
Since I have a 'vert, and drive her daily, my vote is for N/A. Reliability is # 1 in my book since she is my only car.
I am willing to sacrifice speed for reliability.
But I wouldn't be opposed to a w/e t2 AT ALL.

you know what. I drove with a bunch of miata people today witch was fun but I really wanted to see some rx7's I have a tII but really any rex is fine by me just a bad *** machine. Some people prefer n/a other turbo's they have there good points and bad points but I think next time I get my engine rebuilt I'm going to take the good from the n/a's (high compression rotors) and put them in the tII's good (turbo charged engine). ahhhhh, dreams!!

You wanna drag race or you wanna fun car that handles?
I org wanted a TII.. I looked all over but could not find one. I found my car and anyone that's seen it knows how clean it is and I LOVE my car. Starts up every time, sounds awesome, handles like a dream. I don't like drag racing thou.. in fact I despise it.. so 1/4 mile times to me mean nothing and I care nothing about trying to beat the Mustang at the stoplight either.
That being said I would love to own a TII someday and when my engine goes.. it's about to hit the 100K mark so after I get about 100K more miles out of it and it blows I might swap out for a TII motor.
Were there really so many more na's than TII's or did all the TII's just pop and then get junked?

I want an N/A because all the good places to drive around here are SUPER TWISTY!!!!!!
Plus to be perfectly honest, I not afraid to admit that my skillz arn't yet up to the point where a N/A is not enough.
