I read aaroncakes walk thru 3 times, i cant find anywhere he talks about the ecu. Can i use the stock ecu with a HMT kit?

Also what did he (if you read this u) use to tune? the S-AFC ?

I'm pretty sure that he uses a standalone to tune it. I'll let him answer the other questions.

I ran the NA ECU with a S-AFC.

But my standard advice applies: If you have to ask, don't attempt this project.

HMT!!!

yes you can but dont be mad if you find out the na unit doesnt compensate for timing or fuel adjustment

Yeah, I was wondering about the NA ecu compensating for boost, especially in regards to timing. I think you would be better off with a standalone of some sort.

I never had any timing issues but I agree that it's not the best setup. Clearly it WORKS, but just because it works does not mean that it's ideal. Ideally, a standalone is what should be used...However that assumes that the person asking the question is actually capable of tuning one.

What about using a TII ecu on an NA harness? Since it can account for boost.

yeah honestly you'll spend 2 grand at least cuz basicall the ecu harness engine tranny and drivetrain to the rearend is needed. Or you'ss have 4.10 gear when it' supposed to have 3.90 for the t2.

T2 gears are still 4.100, just 8 inch rather than the NA's 7 inch.

It's not a bad idea if you have a perfectly healthy N/A motor, and dont want to shell out the price of a jspec to find out its junk.

Just make sure you know what your doing before you get into it. ask questions, and read from others that have done this before you.

edit: Aaroncakes swap is one way of going about it, there are other ways as well, requiring less fabrication, but both ways work. It all depends on what your style and abilities are. Me personally I am going a different route of accomplishing this.
