Question NA and Turbo Engine Harness... Interchangable?

1988 Mazda RX-7 SE, N/A- Turbo Conversion

I have heard that the N/A and Trubo II engine wiring harness are similar. All that has to be done is lenghten a few pigtail connectors and I'm all set? I also hard that this is not true. If it is true, it the "solenoid resistor" also part of the harness or do i need one from a turbo...if it is the little white plug like it says in the Trubo II swap writeup, it looks like my NA already has one. Another question....Turbo II computers.....theres a N333 and a N332 i think........what is the difference between the two? Thanks for all the help with this swap guys...

I am sure that with some modifying, it can be made to work. It's just wires afterall.

Hope this helps.

The only interchangeable ECUs are the ones where the first three digits match, for example:

a N332 could be replaced with a N333 or N338, but not a N327 or N350

But a N350 could be replaced with a N351 or N352, but not a N370.

So no a 86-88 ECU will not work in a 89-92 FC

Non-turbo ECU's
Year/Model Part number
'84 - '85 GSL-SE N304
'86 - '87.5 All N326
87.5- 88 N327
'88 All, except convertible N327
'88 Convertible N338
'89+ California N350
'89+ Federal (non-California) N351
'89+ California, Convertible N352
'89+ Federal (non-California), Convertible N353

Turbo ECU's
Year/Model Part number
'86 Turbo (Japan) N318
'87 Turbo (USA) N332
'88 Turbo (USA) N333
'88 Turbo, Japan/Euro N344
'89 Turbo N370
'89 Turbo, Japan/Euro N380

i had a s5 n/a body and put in a s5 turbo 2 engine and used the n/a harness, all i had to do is lengthen the tps wires, and had to run my own wire for the knock sensor to the ecu, my jap s5 turbo ecu is a n374, i dont know what the solenoid resistor is but if your talking about the pressure sensor(on the passenger side shock tower) you have to get 1 off a turbo cause the n/a cant read boost

good luck w/ the swap

if you have anymore questions just let me know

just saw that you have a s4, so you cant run a wire from the knock sensor straight to the ecu cause on a s4 theres a module box or something, keep in mind also that the technology on our knock sensors arent good and it really doesnt work past 3000 rpm cause of our loud engines
