na trany for a tII

na trany for a tII

when you swap out the tranny, the new tII doesnt have to came from the same model year does it. say i wanted to put an 88 tII tanny in an 87 na??

The T2 and NA trannys are not interchangeable without other changes.

The T2 and NA trannys have different drive shafts, different clutch slaves, different flywheels, different clutchs, different starters.

However swaping the same type, such as a 87 T2 tanny into a 89 T2 would be fine.

Some of the NA trannys are model specific though, with model dedicated 5th gears. Most common is the 'vert and GTUs trannys with different gearing, but using the same lower gearing and houseings as the other NA models.

No it doesnt. Im assuming youre asking about swapping an '88 TII engine & drivetrain into an '87 n/a body. I believe its easier to just stick with either series4 (86-88) to series4 OR series5 (89-92) to series5 BUT you dont have to.
