NA for 1800 with timing problem.
NA for 1800 with timing problem.
I found an NA 2nd gen for 1800. Auto, but it was a 5 spd at one time, so not that hard to switch back. Body : amazingly good shape, orange. Engine : good shape, 90k miles, needs timing adjustment. Is it that expensive for a shop to do timing adjustment? I'm coming from a honda, so I have no idea if this is even a good deal. And is it true that rotary dies at 100k miles?

Sounds more like it's got engine problems, and they're just trying to tell you it's got timing problems to get you to buy it...In a pinch, you can time these cars by ear, just as you would a piston popper. The Crank Angle Sensor is just to the left of the alternator, loosen the hold-down nut (might be under a plastic "cap), start the engine, turn the CAS clockwise until she starts running rough, then turn it CCW about 1/4", you should be within 5 degrees of dead nuts at that point...If she's still running rough, someone might have removed the CAS and totally screwed up aligning & reinstalling it. Once these things are timed right & secured down, they almost NEVER need a timing adjustment, that's why I'm warning you that it might be another problem altogether...
