i havent played with these specifically, but i have played with the cosmo/fd stuff.

the japanese didn't get a check engine light until sometime after 96. if you look at the cosmo vs US FD wiring you'll see that they use the same pins for the same things, the wiring in the car is different.

in the FSM's they do show a couple different ways to read the error codes, the JDM stuff works fine with the 2 voltmeter setup, AND mazda's little code checker box, just like the us stuff.

second, the pinout at the ECU is probably the same, however we know that the JDM ecu has a speed limiter, and the US ecu has AWS, so there are 1-2 pins that are different.

third, we've learned from the JDM vs US FD, that the ecu's are the same and the engine is the same, but the wiring harness is not. the RHD car has the same wires, but they can take different routes, just due to the different location of the ECU/gauges/driver

The differences in the board population are the AWS and the split air outputs. Neither are populated so running an N374 in a USDM harness/engine will have those "features" disabled.

the programming is in a complete different order on the 2 eproms, the n374 wont work in a usdm car unless it has been chipped, the black box that attaches to the chassis harness to ecu plug whatever it is , is a key component missing in the usdm cars and without disabling the code in the n374 it wont fire the rear primaries (did it b4 I'm too lazy to search my old threads for actual info lol)
I've tried running a n370 eprom in an n374, it started the car but some weird crap would happen, my engine would shut off if i opened the door so i never tried driving it
so i ended up using the n374 with the knightsport chip works good, lots a nice features, even has spark retard rev limiter

digital tuning (they make Rtek) must have figured out the deal with the N374's, because they will do an Rtek 2.1 on a N374

i tried contacting the digital tuning guys in the past they never replied lol,
i just got an PM from someone sayin they have the n374 and they got the rtek1.7 for it and its still not firing the rear injectors

rtek should try to incorporate the spark retard rev limiter like the KS chip

^^^well could you answer the main question in this thread if possible? would you happen to know the differences on why the n374 works on some applications and not others.

I've answered with all the info I know of at this point (differences in board population, post 28). We have sold quite a few Rteks that were installed in N374s and I have not heard of any complaints, with one exception:

The only one I know of is someone with an NA conversion that is having a problem but we have not gotten to the point in troubleshooting that I can say its due to the ECU. Many times the ECU is the first thing that gets blamed but typically it's because there was a lot of other work done at the same time as the Rtek install and there are other factors to the problem.

I have a US spec S5 NA with a EU-Spec TII motor, worked fine with stock eu-spec TII N380 and also with the re-amemiya N374

anyone knows the faktor for spark advance in the eeprom? also the axis for the base fueling map would be nice
