Well I have said all I will say on the subject. Good luck to all that try it. I will be selling my 89 turbo&manifold setup in a month or 2 after my breakin is complete on the new 3mm apex seals. Going to a full t04. I will sell it with a warrantee. Will outlast the NA motor its strapped to.

Sorry Aaron, no insult meant I was just figuring that when I go FI (likely supercharged), i'll probably keep mine at no more than 8 PSI, because that seems around the common number for a lightly boosted (formerly)N/A engine. Of course, this is on a 218k old engine, though freshly rebuilt, it still has 218k on it....

I've heard this all too many times with turbo conversions...the first of which was our shops 280ZX back in the day. We did a full restore on it and used a 83 turbo manifold/turbo on the stock NA motor and '70s style resistor computer. With proper fuel and igntion though it worked beautifully...you just have to know the internal stress limit of the motor you are turbocharging. People used to say it about hondas, NA DSM's etc... But the key is proper tuning and knowing how much boost the motor can take.

As far as I know, all FC's and FD's use the same apex seal so they should take the same abuse assuming they are in good shape. I know that racing beat used to mention Na's with turbo's in their catalogues and how 6 psi was the limit of the stock 6 port engine. However, this was before the days of SAFC's to manipulate the stock fuel curve which will help tune the car to a safe level. They also mentioned some cooling inferiorities of the 6 port motor but, again, unless it's really pusehd hard (like a road racing course) it's hardly of any concern with a responsible driver.
