n/a suggested timing advance
what would you guys think would be best to set a s5 n/a motor to with a free exhaust, open filter, and a modified fuel cruve, running an safc.
also how could I guestimate how far advanced I am from tdc without an adjustable light, like distance between marks on the pully?
thanks

You will need a timing light to adjust the timing.
Really, leave it alone unless you have a standalone. With the stock ECU the best you can do is bump the entire curve. You'll end up having to run a higher octane fuel and the gain will only be a few HP.

years ago I played around on the dyno doing this (turning the CAS). Advanced it a few degrees... I don't remember how many. Power increased by a couple hp, maybe 4-5. I also noticed the idle was a little less smooth. And the weirdest thing was that somehow the ECU got confused and the car ran a little lean (high 13's?), no matter how much I richened up the SAFC. It never detonated even on 87, and I managed 172rwhp. Rtek 2.0 was not available at the time however so I would say you should get that.
