A/N SS line basics plz

Ive been reading and thinking a lot about running all SS lines on my FC, but pretty much every post i read assumes people already know everything about AN fittings.

Does attatching the fittings for the SS lines usually require welding where the bead for the stock rubber lines used to be? (such as outlet from the fuel tank or radiator inlet/outlet)

what width is recommended for fuel tank-filter line, fuel return, fuel filter-rail, motor-radiator, and any other misc lines that i may be forgettin (that are not sold in kits, ie brake lines, clutch line).

THanks!
Ed

In terms of the fuel system, there was a big dicussion on it in the Single Turbo Forum. Many different opinions.

Some people go with a -6AN feed line and -6AN return. But -6AN (3/8" ID) isn't too much larger than stock.

I am going with -8AN (1/2") feed and return.

No, there is no welding with SS lines and fittings like Earls.

Man, someone's got a lot of money to spend...

Stock 5/16" OD metal lines are good for 500hp.
I only step up to -6 AN if I'm going over 500.
-6 AN is easily good for 700hp.
Anything else is overkill.

For coolant fittings try to go for -16.  Some will recommend smaller (down to -12), but I find it a little too restrictive.  Be prepared for the $50/fitting for -16 ends!

Try to stay away from the stock hard line.  If you willing to spend the cash for the AN stuff, you should replace EVERYTHING.  Run an aftermarket fuel pump that accepts AN fittings, so you can run a fuel filter with AN fittings, which would require ALL AN SS lines from front to back.

Has anyone actually noticed a benifit from the SS clutch line? I'm a little sceptical.

My SS clutch line made my clutch effort increase a little.

Increased effort usually implies increased sensitivity.
Drag racers might be happy to hear that it might be easier to launch the FC more consistently due to this fact.
