Question N/a rotor housing on turbo motor: exhaust sleeve question

Ive been searching all 3 major rotary forums and still can't answer my question

Would their be a problem using non-turbo rotor housings with the non-turbo exhaust sleves in a turbo motor application?

if so should i

buy a set of turbo housings
-or
replace the non-turbo exhaust sleeves with turbo sleeves
-or
remove the sleevs all thogether
-or
something else im not seeing

I do this sometimes, just cut the diffuser out of the NA sleeve with a torch carefully (might wanna practice first) or grind it out. Swapping sleeves is no easy task.

I swapped the sleeves. Pulled out the pins by welding a dot right on the pin, let it cool then another on top of it... then get it to where you can use pliers on it to pull it out. They came out pretty easy, anyways thats what I did.

Actually the pins are quite easy to remove. I've done this to a couple sets of rotor housings. I would just swap the sleeves if I were you.

Check out this thread for a little help.

edit - You want to make sure you use a high quality tap so it doesn't break off inside the pin.

This can only be done when the engine is apart. IF you could see the side edge of the rotorhousing you'd see the rollpins.

When you swap sleeves on a cosmo engine, you have to grind down a metal tube under the stock sleeve just a little...I just did a set last week.

BDC showed me how it is done. There is nothing to it and it takes about 4 min to remove each pin.
I remember seeing a post by him explaining how it is done.

Here is a thread detailing my 1st exerience with roll-pin removal. Half of this thread can be found in the archives, but sadly the important pics are no longer being hosted.

Hopefully with some common sense and a rotor-housing close-by for comparison, you can get a good idea of the slightly different methods for roll-pin removal.

In my last post on that thread I gave as detailed a writeup as I could in my sucessful removal of the roll-pins.
