N/A questions about a bone-stock car.
OK, i would like to get some honest answers about the stock and slightly modified performance of the S4 FC.
About how much horsepower do these cars put down at the wheels? Torque?
Does an opened intake and quality exhaust up the power by a significant degree? Is the increase in performance enough to feel on the "seat-of-your pants" dyno?
How much horsepower is an otherwise stock car putting on the ground with a decent intake and exhaust combo?
How about some E.T.'s at the 'strip? Remember, we are talking about a reletively stock N/A S4 FC.
I expect that once i get the tranny in, the car is going to feel a LOT like my old Porsche 944. Minus the leather and german build nuances. Can anyone confirm this? BTW, all of the above figures are assuming a 'fresh' engine in good shape.
I suppose i could just wait till she's fixed, and then answer all of my own questions, it's just that i am impatient and i would like to hear what others have to say!

All of those things are affected by how many miles are on the car, how well the engine been cared for and how good condition the clutch, flywheel....etc are in. But basically the stock S4 motor puts out 148hp at the flywheel, so at the wheels minus 10-15 percent loss through the drivetrain. Since the car doesn't pack a huge punch a exhaust won't change the seat of your pants, but over time with certain modifications the can do that. As for E.T.s at the strip it really depends on the driver, anywhere from 15-17. The car will be like a gocart very good handling and always fun to drive, theres nothing else like it.

When I added a racing beat catback/bonez superlo exhaust and K&N filter to my stock S4 N/A I felt a bit more kick in the seat of my pants!!! The car still doesn't give me whiplash or anything like that but I found it noticable..

Putting on an intake and exhuast adds a respectable bit of punch to the top end of these cars. I definitely noticed a difference. I haven't done it yet but I hear porting your intake manifold and adding headers can also add a bit more...after than I don't know what to do. The car is fun as hell to drive though!
