I've had my car in the shop for a couple days now (Maztech, Tampa) and we're having some troubles with a rattle that occurs between 2,000 and 2,300 RPMs. It's kind of a vibration noise. I just had a new clutch installed by Maztech and the noise has started after installation. Jeff seams to think it's an exhaust problem but it sounds like it's coming from the front of the car (engine bay). He just changed the transmission mounts and a broken motor mount. Any ideas? I could really use the advice, thanks guys.

 

Exhaust shields are a common rattle at specific RPMs

 

My Shifter rattled at that range before I changed the bushings.... Now I have a Mazdatrix Short shifter and i must have one of the 33% of cars that it rattles in, but its a different type of noise.

Also.. If the big assed washer that goes on the pin/bolt in the cetner of the tranny mount is touching ANYTHING... it'll give you a rattle

 

Wow, this is annoying. If I find out what's wrong I'll keep you informed.

 

Have you checked your exhaust sleeves? One of mine is loose, and rattles all the time...extremely annoying.
