mysterious Water Temp Gauge Movement

Hey guys,

i have a weird problem with my stock water temp gauge.
If the engine is cold, the needle rests at the bottom of the gauge. As soon as the Water gets 40°C warm (104°F) the needle begins to move.. but it doesnt stop. it sky-rockets to the Top it rests there and doesn't come down.

I pulled the gaugecluster and changed the gauge, checked the gnd in the back of the cluster, but it still goes all the way up there.

This problem first occured after i had changed the oil-pressure gauge, because i grounded the Oil-Pressure sensor wrong.. so i destroyed it

And you are sure that it is not overheating yes? I'd say get a new sensor if you want to stay stock, otherwise this is the PERFECT opportunity to get rid of the crappy stock guage and get an aftermarket one!

yea i am sure. I have a Power FC with the Commander in there, and it shows me the Watertemp from the waterpump-housing (i guess haha). if i pull the wire from the stock sensor in the rear plate, the Power FC still shows me temp rise / drop.

i could just ignore the stock gage.. but i want to know why it is doing this, and it looks really stupid having the needle at HOT all the time.
