Angry My tranny is acting up, help.....

lately my tranny has been acting up. It seems to have started about a month ago and it doesn't matter wether the car is warm or cold (so its probibly not due to the temperature change). I had my tranny rebuilt about 10K ago, so the syncros should be fine.

Ok, when I shift gears it just doesn't seem smooth anymore, its very notchy in all gears but never actually grinds teeth. When the lever in in neutral it feels like there is no vicsosity resistance when you move it side to side, but I checked the fluid level and its
fine. IS there another fluid chamber somewher that may need filling. The clutch fluid level hasn't changed as long as I have owned the car (3 + years) so I don't think its related to the master cylinder. Again the grears don't grind but it feel like it is ever so close, and it is far from shifting as smooth as it did a few months ago. I am using 70W-90 or whatever it calls for on the sticker under the hood. (88 tII).

please help me figure this out before I have to rebuild another tranny.

Thanks!

Well you make it sound like it is real notchy. But the cars tranny brand new was notchy( so i jave been told).

when you say it is in neutral and it has no viscosity....ok in plain english(pardon me for being a dumbass) you mean that it is hard to push side to side or it is easy to push side to side?

I got ripped off BAD on getting shifter bushings put in my old GXL...but that is beside the point...it was real hard to go from side to side and somewhat into gear, now that i am thinking about it. it was so hard i took the car back to them and inquired about it...they told me the parts are just new, need to be broken in, and drive it for a week and see if it gets better...it eventually did.....took about the week

But you also say it has 10K on rebuild so you are past a weeks worth of driving. Plus do you know if they put new shifter bushings in it.

Well hope some of that helped
later

I do know that our trannys are suppose to be notchy even when they were new. The thing is that it was smooth 2 months ago, and pretty much smooth since the rebuild (as soon as it broke in). When I said no viscosity resistance I mean that it is easy to move, feels like its dry.

I replaced the shifter bushings myself about 12K ago and they worked properly from day one, unless they are worn out again.
