Is my thermostat dead?

heyo: My coolant light has been coming on randomly, usually at higher RPMS, so i checked my coolant as at the fill cap. As the engine heats up, the antifreeze fills up the pipe, but then it just sorta keeps filling it up, until you rev the engine, at which point it sucks into the engine, then as soon as you stop reving, it fills the tube back up.. I'm assuming it's dead in the open position, as my guages hasn't shown a temp above 1/4th up..

sound like the thermostat?

I'm stopping by Mazda on my way home today, so I'll let you know if it fixes it (i'm pretty sure it will).

$12? mine was $5 for the OEM at my local Mazda dealer.

-Make sure you get an OEM T-stat. aftermarket's such as stant do not have the jiggler pin.

***sound like the thermostat?**

Sounds more like you didn't bleed the air out using the bleed screw on the radiator.

I bled it some, but I was in a hurry, and that was the last thing I did before my test run.. so you may be on to something there, Hailers. I'm going to pick up a new Tstat anyway, but i'll be sure to pay more attention to bleeding this time
