I'm not sure why having a hood scoop effects how you should clean the car....

I have always used Armor All soap with one of those brushes you hook the garden hose to.

oh its got a hood scoop? you've gotta go to autozone and by the "hood scoop specific" soap and rags.........otherwise the car will catch fire when non-hood scoop soap touches the paint. j/k

You won't hurt anything by getting water in the scoop, go postal on the thing.

I think he's afraid that water will get onto the engine and mess it up.

or then again he might not want his intercooler full of water because when he is washing the car he puts the hose in the inlet and leaves it on....i dont know but when driving in the rain the water goes not really into the intercooler but pasts that and onto the windshield from underneath...if paraniod that ur car is that dirty to mess it up, just put a rag or sponge in the inlet
