Is my shifter stock or not?

I bought a 88 rx7 for the motor and trans for my 510 and i was told the shifter was a racing shifter or something? he didn't really know what it was but it had a lot of play in it so i took it out and there was bushings missing from it. well i got some from my friends old trans. its very tight and works good now. but i wanted to know if it is stock or a short shifter. how far is the throw from 1st too 2nd with a stock shifter?

should be able to tell just by looking at the shifter lever itself. stock is a 2 piece system with rubber holding it together in the middle.

most aftermarket ones are just 1 solid piece of metal.

the only way that you can "really tell" is to Pull the Shifter from the Trans. If the shifter ball at the bottom is about an inch and a half from the bigger Pivot Ball, and there is an Extra Collar where the pivot pin is,and sitting on top of the Transmission,Then you have an Aftermarket shifter. You could always take a look and compare them on Mazdtrix's Website Or Ebay..Also some of the Aftermarkets are Two piece. There is a One piece aftermarket shifter out there.I can't recall the place to get it though.(and I was going to get it too!..Damn!)

well it probably is stock. my friends 1st gen is a much longer throw, not sure how much shorter the 2nd gen is compared to it.
