Same thing happened to mine last week.... let it get nice and hot and see if your exhaust is glowing red....
If it is, disconnect the exhaust from the header back and see if your problem is solved (while very loud)....
If it is... your cat(s) are clogged

this is my coolant seal shpeal:
when the car is overheated the coolant seals begin to break. when the car cools the seal compresses and allows coolant to seep into the chamber which then gets burnt up when you turn it on. As the car heats up to operating temperature the seal expands and the leak stops until the car cools again and the process start all over again. Repeat this several times and the seal will eventually break to the point that it will not expand at operating temps and you'll blow more white smoke than cheech and chong at reggae on the river.
You do NOT NEED to rebuild to replace the coolant seals but you DO have to tear the motor apart to get to them so MOST people CHOOSE to rebuild while everything is in pieces.
This is why you're supposed to reasearch before you buy a 7. You should always have the car COLD when you test drive it to see if the coolant seals are bad. If you get the "oh, someone was just here test driving it" BS then walk away and come back another day and MAKE SURE IT'S COLD.

hey, i am his friend. i was at his place, i tried the steam clean trick, and then took it for a right rip. after our redlining session the cat was glowing pretty good. should we take the exh. off and see if it fixes it?

hey, try buying a lisle funnel off of ebay or some big box auto parts store near you. put it onto yer coolant filler neck and pour in a little coolant so there's a vacuum of liquid (there shouldn't be any air getting into the coolant lines!!! read the funnel instructions for more info). careful hot coolant may rise in the funnel, dont get burned. make sure you have a proper seal before starting the car!
if your coolant seals are blown you will almost certainly get a steady stream of bubbles coming out of the funnel.
check this video to see what i'm talking about.

The exhaust is clogged.
Either gut all the cats out, or go to an exhaust shop and pay through your nose.
If you do not have emissions testing where you are, just gut the cats and weld them back in (exactly what I did).

When the car is cold, take off the radiator cap and start the engine. If you see little bubbles in radiator fluid than your seals are shot. Same applies to a piston engine.
Hopefully it's your cats...
