Nope has enought gas, on compression am not too sure, but i would guess that even of i had bad compression or a blown seal that it would atleast turn but it doesnt make any sound at all

battery

your battery is weak

get a jump or recharge your battery

if the problem continues get a new battery or could be your alternator that needs replacing. maybe both.

Clutch start button may be wearing out, Its what tells the car the clutch is depressed and allows the starter to get current. Somewhat common problem.

+1 on clutch starter switch going out, it's happening on mine too. It's just a little push button switch behind the clutch that gets depressed when you engage the clutch. I haven't fixed it yet, but when it happens I just press on it really really hard and most of the time it works. On rare occasions I have to crawl under there and push it in by hand (actually pretty difficult to do.) There's a thread on here somewhere about bypassing the switch all together, search it.

Next time it does it give the starter housing a few smacks with a mallet, hammer or piece of wood, if it will then turn over you need to replace your starter since it has a flat spot.

Man, must be twins, my 88' vert just started having the same problem, started just fine this morning, i drove like 7 blocks to the grocery store and had to walk home this is the third time in as many days that i could start it in the morning but after i shut it off it wont restart. I hear the fuel pump, i can hear relays or solenoids click, just the starter never turns over, all accesories work other than today i noticed that the security system acted funny, it didnt chirp or light up. I went back about 4 hours later, still no go, but now the security is working?????????? hope its still there in the morning https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/oem-security-system-question-security-light-668860/ i am watching the responses here as well????

I was having this same problem with my s4 vert, got a new starter, fixed it.. It just stopped working in my car. I had the starter tested at Advance auto, they said it was ok, but it wouldn't work in my car. I took the starter out 4 times before I finnally gave up on the old one and got a new starter. it starts fine every time now. if its not the starter and you buy a new one to check, you could always return it. good luck!

Ok, went to get the car this morning, sry if I'm hijacking your thread but the info might help. I hopped in the car and turned the key, same thing, i hear the fuel pump, hear a relay or two click but no starrter cranking, my dad was helping me, so we pull started it an I drove it home, got it up in some ramps, shut it off, won't start. so I crawl under and have found something , hanging just above the starter. Looks like it has a fuel line? maybe some wires? it has an ell bracket that has broke and is not attached to the car. I didnt have time to get out the trouble light but will this evening. also will take out the starter and take it in to be tested. good luck Zerdrx7, keep me posted on what you find. also , i looked and found 2 switches on my clutch, one releases when the clutch is pressed and the other depresses when the clutch is pressed, i messed with them some but have not tryed bypassing them yet.
also, im going in search of a haynes manual

You would have to be thin as a noodle, and a very tiny something that won't get enough whack. ( )
Try a car jack and jack stands.

Starter Wear

yea! my sons car had all the same problems you guys have posted, relay noises, start sometimes, we pulled the starter and took it to auto zone and they tested it and said it was within the correct amp draw etc. So we put it back in and the car started up fine for next two days. My son then started his trip back to Portland Oregon, 750 miles, he gets to Boise Idaho and pulls into a convience store and gases up and guess what the car will not start. He calls me on the phone and I tell him to give the starter a smack, he reaches under car gives the starter housing a couple of licks and gets back in the car and it starts right back up. Makes it all the way to Portland with no problems. A week later it does it again and again he smacks the starter housing and it turns over, he then obtained a new rebult starter from parts house and hasn,t had any problems since (been 9 months).

I have had this problem with starters in various vehicles over the past 30 years and they have all been the same. Donot always trust the tests they perform at the parts houses because they test them at run speed and current draw and you would only detect a problem if the flat spot was at the correct location when first started.

could also be the starter solenoid if you've had any leaking fluids or anything they'll seep into the casing and short it out. it'll start fine on cold starts but as soon as it warms up you'll have to let it sit for around an hour or so till it'll start again. i just had a problem that sounds very similar to yours last summer. i swapped the whole unit (starter & solenoid) and havent had a problem with it since. best of luck

So, took 3 times turning the key after I got it on before it started, haven't a clue why. Let it warm up then turned it off and started it again, there was maybe a delay but it started first time this time. Drove it a bit let it sit and get cold worrying it was the clutch switch and and it sitting in my mother's warm garage it was able to start, so leaving it out it wouldn't start, but it did. Tomorrow morning will be the real test.

Also it snowed 10 inch well it was dead... never driven in the snow before.
