yeah, its on the primary fuel rail, wich is underneath the intake manifold.i guess 1 easy way to find it would be to look at your secondary fuel rail, wich is easy to see, right where the lower bolts to the upper manifol, and follow the fuel line down to the primary fuel rail[it goes supply pressure-primary rail-secondary rail-fuel return line].the pulsation damper is on the front end of the fuel rail,i think its a bit tricky to see.

i decided to just get another s4 p.damper,i'm in the mids of redoing my engine,so i decided to brake down and fork out the $120.-[or something like that],and i'm sure it will be fine, the first one lasted 13 years w/o failing.

Mazdatrix has an 89-92 pulsation damper and fuel rail for $155. Would this be all I need to make my car "rolling fireball" proof?

Hi everyone, just some helpful info when replacing your fuel hoses. Make sure you ask for the high pressure fuel hose. I made the mistake when putting in a rebuild of changing all my hoses however, after I had it all together I found out you need high pressure hoses on RX7 because of the pressure range. I didn't know there were different ratings for fuel hose. I just thought I'd save someone some trouble. Gary

Everyhting that Tesla said is accurate. I did this fix myself when the PD started to leak on my 88. It isn't that difficult really, but I ended up changing all the oil injection lines as well because while changing all vaccum lines, I broke one. You can't glue them back on
Anyway, high pressure fuel hose, professionally cleaned injectors and the 89 fuel rail will get you down the road. And NO, you don't have to change the entire fuel system to Series V, just the primary rail. The secondary rail doesn't fit on the series 4 intakes by the way...ask me how I know!
I would not glue the 88 screw back into the PD or the banjo bolt idea. The FC3S list had good and bad things to say about those 2 ideas. Why mess with it?
If someone needs a Series V PD, I've got another extra one. I sold one to Tesla. He apparently got it. I keep 2 or 3 around just in case. Yes, they also go bad but apparently very infrequently!

Add one more thing. I just read on the North Carolina club site, that on higher mileage cars, the injectors can leak as well, right around the body of the injector. News to me. Have them professionally checked out and cleaned.

Man, i can't believe how well you walked away from your car becoming a substitute barbeque!
Fark you're lucky you had a Fire Extinguisher handy!
i think i'll be getting one after reading this.

I know, with my luck, that when my car goes, it is gonna blow with the force of a 10megaton nuclear bomb. It'd be in keeping with the magnitude everything else that has gone wrong with my FC thus far..

Well, I had this happen too. Luckily it only cost me $500 to fix it (since that was my deductible on my insurance.) The insurance company had to fork out an extra $2000 though.

For those of you with 86-88 cars, check your PD NOW!

Question pulsation damper ?

I have never heard of a pulsation damper. Do I have one in my 88 convertible? What does it do?

So, is that part I mentioned all you need from Mazdatrix (Non-turbo
(includes primary fuel rail) 13-1500-N350) to make the switch over?

If you are going to buy one, get the 89-91 model. If that is the part number cited, use that. Don't go back to a part that was superceded by a better piece in the 89+ cars. Its a direct swap. Get the screws that put it in the block. One of them from the 86-88 models is too long. Don't lose the washer underneath, it seals the unit to the block.

I'm not sure I under stand? With this part you are talking about you can just unbolt the old one and bolt this one in without taking apart the top half of the engine?

It smoothes out the fuel flow before it gets to the injectors and you do have on in your 88

Ok guys... I don't see the point of putting on the 89-91 fuel rail over a NEW 86-88 PD. I'm nearly postive that the 89-91 part still uses a rubber diaphram. So think about it... you are going to use a 10 year old used rubber part, over a NEW part that has a history of lasting 10+ years? I'm sorry, it just seems crazy to think that the 89 - 91 will last 20+ years. IMHO save yourself the trouble, go buy the 86-88 NEW and don't think about it again. Personally I would never use an old rubber part part that could have sat (dry rot) for who knows HOW long.
