I took mine out just to see what was goin on down there and mine was pure white with no debris at all. Now I'm not sure if the previous owner might have changed it but I was surprised to say the least. It's not a hard job, but getting the fuel lines off of the nipples can take some patience.

One of my favorite tools - bent tip long nose pliers.
They are great for vac, air, & fuel lines.
They give better choices of angles & leverage.
Onother favorite - stubby (4") ratchet handle.
It can get into tight places with more swing, and you are less likely to over tighten those 10 & 12 mm bolts.
