Exclamation My rear end is gone!! Help!!!!

Specs: 87 Rx-7 non turbo

5-lug Idependent Rear with limited slip diff.

I have a guy that can do the labor but I need the parts. Car can be put in 1st gear let the clutch out and all you here is gear lightly grinding and no forward or rearward motion in reverse. Does this in all gears.

Can the rear gears be replaced or is the whole rear end need replaced. And also were can I get the parts??

Thanks Guys!

are you sure it is not the tranny? I don't see how the diff. would do that.

Kevin Landers probably has a diff.

I am pretty sure it is the diff cause I was doing donuts on wet pavement and had it in second gear and something popped. After that it would drive fine in a straight line but it would pop and crack like crazy around corners.

have the tranny inspected and make sure. Before you go and spend cash on something else.

probably the diff. I broke mine doing 2nd gear donuts and the same thing happened which you are describing.

I went to the junk yard and got one out of a car, had it back on the road the next day.

anyway differentials are easy to find. kevin (www.rotaryresurrection.com) has a couple, and there are always some on ebay.

I have a 4.1 open and a 3.9 lsd diff available.

To test your theory, look under teh car to see if the driveshaft spins when you try to take off or not. If yes, it is the diff; if no, it is the trans.

To remove the diff, you have to unbolt the whole rear subframe. ITs sort of a bitch.

I'll sell the 4.1 open for $50 and shipping. With a couple strong friends and some jacks/props etc., the rear is a 1-2 hour job.
