Is my power too low?

Ok. Here are my main performance mods for my 1991 NA FC.

-87' TII transmission & differential with 4:30 ring & pinion compressed into it.

-Lightened 18# flywheel

-Bonez street comp intake w/custom cold-air box

-Pacesetter headers w/ Bonez mid-pipe and Apexi' N1 Duals

-10mm magnecor plug wires and new NGK plugs

That should be most of the performance mods.

I just recently did the "ATF trick" and left it sitting for 2-3 days. (we added some more every day) As a result of this, my car ran about 600-700RPM lower than it did before. It breathes much better, but my problems are still not all corrected. It seems that I'm not getting the power that I should be (to the ground anyway). It's actually the low end that I'm most concerned about. It pulls great up at the high end, but it just seems that when shifting, etc. I just lose some of my power. Also, downshifting, although somewhat effective, seems less effective than it should be. Is it maybe a vaccuum leak or something similar? I do have some idle problems (surging up and down), but I figured that was the TPS or some emmissions equip. I also notice quite a bit of backfire and am not sure whether this is normal as is with many modded FCs, or if what I'm hearing is a problem. I just don't have enough experience with well tuned FCs to know the difference if you know what I mean. I currently have my SAP (split-air pipe) tied up under my car with some wire, as we didn't know whether to remove it or not when I installed my race pipe. We did plug the end of it up with a piece of metal though. Could this cause my problem? Should I remove it and block off directly on the engine? I have a busted air pump bracket as well. It is held on only by the belt pressure. Should I replace the pump bracket to ensure that my 5th and 6th ports will still have the required 1.8lbs of pressure to open up, or should I just remove the whole pump and somehow wire open the ports, etc. I just need some ideas guys. I'm quite knowledgeable about my car, but I'm sure you guys could provide some help. If anything is too vaguely explained, then please let me know and I'll try to explain in more detail. I'd appreciate any input you have. Thanks in advance.

do you feel you're lacking low end power compared to when it was stock? (or before the mods).......with my n/a when i slapped on the bonez superflow cat and N1 single i noticed a little loss of low end torque just because the piping is bigger. and if you have headers that might just take away more low end but certainly make up for it once it gets above 5000 rpm.

Well, it's hard to tell as many factors have to be figured in when looking back to its stock condition. It was over 3 years ago. It was, then, an automatic. It had transmission problems. I don't think that is what is the problem, although the thought did cross my mind. I'm thinking more along the lines of a bad BAC or ACV, or maybe a vaccuum leak. There is just something missing. It should be faster. Thanks for your input and feel free to add anything.
