My oil leak

so I've owned my car(88 NA) for about 10 years. Last year the engine died, so i decided to get a rebuild. About 8 months ago it started leaking oil...then it started to leak more oil and more and more. The leak has been traced to the oil metering pump or the front cover seal (the one by the main pulley) I suspect that the main pulley seal is ok, as oil seems to be definitely coming from the MOP.

The MOP has been replaced, but it appeared to still be leaking. Today whilst trying to remove it one of the bolts holding the MOP onto the front cover broke. Now I'm in a dilly of a pickle as it were and have half a bolt in my hand and the other half stuck in the front cover housing. I don't really want to remove the front cover if possible. Any suggestions?

Bummer! If any of the broken part is sticking out of the hole you may be able to back it out using vice grips or similar. Otherwise, you will probably need to drill the broken part and use an "easyout" (bolt extractor) to remove it. Either way it will not be an easy task. Good luck.

See the following for an example of a bolt extractor:

Take it to a shop that can do bolt extractions. Those little 6mm bolts don't take alot of torque.

I sell resealing kits for the OMP that eliminate any leaking for $11 shipped. There are several o-rings and seals that fail in the OMP and cause leaking. Link is in my signature.
