That is alot of work, I glassbead the irons and housings then you can clean out the coolant passages and the seals on the irons, just takes time to tape off the face and oil passages.

if you can find a place that does soda blasting, that works well. afterwards, wash them off to get all the soda remains off. may wanna spray em so they don't rust as well.

something i've found to be sweet when cleaning aluminum motor parts with alot of grease and heavy carbon buildup is Purple Power cleaner and warm water with a strong plastic brisled brush. You can make things look like new in a few minuites with the stuff! Also you can use something like mineral sprits on the irons (parts cleaner solvent)

I cant use SOS soap steel whool pads, they make me gag. The smell is just ******* disgusting... I remember I was cleaning up my TB and ran out of steel whool, so I went out and the only thing that I could find, that was still open, where some sos soap whool pads.. I started scrubbin with no water and the dust/soap smell was just ******* gross! So I went upstairs to try and wash the soap out of the pad, but it wasn't going to well, you could still smell it.

Needless to say, I threw the whole box out, and the next day I got some regular steel whool.

Are you going to paint your Rotor housings??? The reason I ask is I have always seen people paint the Irons and leave the alum. I figured this was to dissapate the heat.

I'm nub......set me straight old guys.

you can paint all the irons and aluminums, most if they paint the aluminums at all use an aluminum color and be sure to use high temp engine paint.

anything over 600 degree paint should be fine.

the housings shouldn't get over 220 degrees but paint is always false when they give their durability, i usually double the ratings.
