Make a cardboard template of the area, and include any curve you may need. That way you can walk around "testing" to see what will work as a shroud. Those small rectangular office size waste-paper baskets will probably be your best bet.

Don't be tempted to buy white plastic and paint it black - it will look like ****.

I think maybe styrafoam would be the best bet to make a mold. Something not as poreous as most foams, and shape it to whichever way you want and then lay a base coat of glass, then sand and lay another coat, and form it to how you like. Then when you get a good shape, just cut the foam out or use some sort of solvent such as gasoline to eat the foam. Hell you can make napalm as youre finishing :-)

no, i think it might be a bit until i can try to make a front housing for these.
i'm too busy with my brake swap at the moment.
yesterday i realized that none of my stock rubber lines are going to come off (after rounding off the flare nuts), so i'm just going to cut the hard line and put a new flare nut on.

ordered some SS brake lines from Corksport today also

anyways, i'll be sure to post some pics on the road at night as soon as i get the car back running

they are H9 bulbs, and the projector is a DOT-type lens (not ECE).

i got some more pics. unfortunately the ones that i took on the road didn't turn out great. i'll try to retake those and post later.

just read the thread from the beginning. i bought the headlight modules (2 low and 2 hi), and fabbed it up to fit into the stock location.
not really any premade kits out there that uses the stock headlight mechanism with these Hella projectors.

question: H9's are not HID? but can you use projector's with HID bulbs?

great fabbing. ive seen a miata with similar lights but he made his eye lids standard but far shorter then original height.

agreed: driving at night means more headlight

In those pics which you try and show the beam pattern...
Are you pointed upwards in your driveway?
The light pattern on the garage door looks awefully high...

So how effective are the lights for daily driving use?

yeah, unfortunately the driveway has an uphill slope. if i get the time i'll try to find flat ground.
mind you i DO aim the low beams a little higher than normal since the sharp projector cutoff allows for this.

for daily driving i can say that these have definetly improved my visibility. it really depends though on the person. some people may be content with the stock headlights, especially if they don't drive a lot at night or live in areas that are very well lit (big cities).

i just wanted to update this, H9 HID kits are now widely available. at the time i first posted this thread the H9 type bulb was relatively new.
so a HID kit for H9 bulbs should be a direct retrofit.
i'm thinking of eventually getting a kit and seeing how it is.

and HID conversions work much better in these modules than retrofiting into a normal H4 enclosure:

The 90mm unit, in general, is designed for a high output light source (e.g., the H9 bulb). The beam pattern is reportedly DOT-compliant ("harmonized beam") with the H9 bulb at 1870 lm (at 12.8V) - in terms of light output at the various test points decreed by existing US regulations. Actual bulb lumen output on the highway at say, 14.0V would be 136% of 1870 lm, or 2543 lm. A D2S capsule, with 3200 lm output, only produces 26% more lm than the H9, at highway voltage, so optics would not be oversaturated, which can typically happen when original light source is much weaker than an HID bulb.
and again, Hella does sell an HID version of these 90mm modules, but it's not cheap.
