My New FC3S
My New FC3S
A Long story short, I was about to do the whole SR swap thing in my S13, when I Took a ride in In a 1990 TURBO II RX-7. You can Guess what happend next, out went the 240 and I was looking for a Turbo 2. Well my search went on for months, and I coulden't find a T-2. But I did find this!! an 88 FC, With 100,000k even, and here's the funny part. It was sitting in a garage two houses over, and i got it for $500. Now i'm new to the 13b platform, but I 've decide to keep the NA motor Instead of dumping in a 13B-T. my goal is to hit around 350 bhp. I think that would make a very unique drift car. It seems to me that alot of ppl are doing the turbo swap, is it that hard to make power out of the NA?
Nice find! 350hp out of an NA though isnt realistic unless you drop in a 20b or something of that nature. With a highly modified 13b your most likely gonna be producing slightly below or above 200 (if lucky). If your really in need of power though then your most likely gonna have to go turbo.
if you want 350 horses you want to drop a turbomotor in, and for the price you got that sucker for it wouldn't be too costly at all, you seem to have the basic knowledge so this car shouldnt be too much for you at all. You're much better off getting a hold of a S5 13bt, trust us all when we tell you this.
His best bet is a S4 13bt... It's much easier to swap a S4 into a S4 than S5 into S4... Besides, the S4 has slightly lower compression, which can be a blessing for someone new to rotaries... If you get a S5 engine you'll have to chunk the front cover, buy a S4 front cover w/mechanical OMP, S4 boost sensor, S4 ECU, S4 harness, S4 TB/TPS, etc...

Eibach Swaybars, that's it for suspension. as far as other mods right now just a HKS mega flow intake, carbon TI exhaust , and a ACT clutch. Me and my dad also did a 5 lug conversion ,so I could fit the rims I had on the 240. I really don't need all that power. but it would be nice. I Could always dream, i guess Anyway I'll try to update with more pic's , as the build progresses. I look foward to learning more about the rx7!

any N/A that would even eclipse the 300 mark (its been done, yes with a 2 rotor) would be not even close to ideal for drifting, it would then be a VERY expensive engine and it would not have the torque and/or midrange you want.

A few thoughts:
1) The S13 is a better drifting platform. You're downgrading.
2) 300hp out of an NA engine is downright stupid for street use IMO. It would be extremely expensive, loud (ear drum shattering), unreliable (like driving an F1 car for a daily commute, engine would last only a few thousand miles i think) and worst of all annoying (gallons per mile if you punch it, 3k rpm idle). A 300hp NA is only viable for pure racing purposes, and only worth it (IMO) if you are absolutley restricted to no manner of forced induction.
3) A 13bT can pull off 350hp easily and cheaply. There is a semblance of reliability if you keep up the maintenance.
4) The rotary will fail you at one point or another: consider trading back up to the cheaper, more reliable better drifting car.
5) That exhaust pipe is huge. I hope you don't plan on driving this thing on the street.

Here is what i recommand, if u gonna go drift, just do the suspension first, you dont need a lot of power to drift. and once the motor is done, then worry about what u gonna do, there are more options too. well good luck with whatever u do. need any help, let me know. peace
what's the compression on the motor? what sort of maintenance did you do on it? this is not your avg car bro......if you're going to drive a 7 you need to learn how to keep your car RUNNING..........I suggest you check the FAQ's and search, search, SEARCH before you post. Try NOT to **** up a nice chassis by hitting a tree or going over a cliff, I've just been to a funeral and the cries of a mother in mourning is the worst thing you could EVER hear......
oh yeah and you're a ******* moron for spending so much cash on rims
.....shoulda saved the cash for a new motor or perhaps a swap.

Hey, dont scare the guy from keeping this car. And I dont agree with you saying the s13 is a better drifitng platform, maybe for beginners. Anyways to the thread starter, just get a turbo engine and get 200 hp from just a stock TII swap. Spend $6K+ in upgrades for a 200 hp na.
kk, I'm looking at the TII , you guy's relax. And About the s13, It served it's purpose, I learned to whip that car around pretty effectively , I personally don't think i'm downgrading IMO.
