Thumbs up my new 89TII pics

so after about 2 years of searching i finally got my TII. its a stock 1989 with 77,000 original miles and all records down to every last oil change. i purchased the car with a blown motor and am currently saving for a rebuild..im dying to drive it. the car is mint..only things that are "wrong" are a couple dings and a rip on the drivers seat. the paint is perfect..just barely noticable chips from pebbles while driving. pics are from a cam phone and are not the best but i wanted to show u guys the car..

are you sure its blown? with all the serviced done, it seems they just let it sit and carb-stuck the seals. just a thought.

the owner before me said he got a tune up, then the day after he was driving it and about a mile from his house he heard a "poof" like sound. he said he got the car home slowly and had someone who was knowledgeable with rotarys come look at it. the guy told him he blew an apex seal and offered to buy the car right there, but the owner declined. the car then sat in his garage since sept/oct 05 until i bought it a week and a half ago...

the guy who came to check it out also said that it might have blown because of the way the tune up was done

Have you done a compression check on it to make sure???

I dont beleive much in coincedence (or spelling) so Its a pretty good bet that the tune up, at the very least, contributed to it. It sounds to me like the guy was pretty **** about taking care of it. It is good condition, has ALL the records, and he was the first owner. So I would guess tune up (or down in this case)

Funny, guy comes out to look at the engine, notices (spelling again) that the car is in hella nice shape. Notices that the hose to, whatever, has blown off. Tells guy that he will buy the car for cheap cause its dead. Buys car, fixes, hose, and is really really happy. <-this is the jaded version of things.

Oh and if I came upon a really nice T2 that was just what I wanted, but with a blown engine. you are damn right i would buy it for that price. Put another $1500 to $2500 (depending on rebuild options) and have a very nice car thats just what you want for $5k.

thats the reason i bought it..i cant afford a running s5 in this condition with that amount of miles. i am going to do a compression check tho

yes i would. i cherish everything about my car and it's a blue s4 turbo II. i would MUCH rather have a black turbo s5 with that low of miles. some people just see cars and money differently. he said he's been searching for 2 years which brings up the rarity of these wonderful cars which to me are almost priceless. so if you think he made a bad decision that's your own opinion just don't go around making sarcastic remarks about it.
peace
