Exclamation my new 2nd gen is burning oil???

well i got my first rx7 today, and when i got it home i checked the oil and it was right at the full mark. then i took the car for a 1 hour drive on the highway to my house in corvallis, drive it around for a little with my brother, and now the oil is marking on the low part of the dip stick. are rotary's prone to burning oil? or is this not that normal? it is also idleing at 1500rpm's, where as this morning it was idleing at 1000rpms, is this a result of the low oil? help a noob out!!!
~thanks

Idle should be 650-700 for a non turbo manual tranny. 750 for an automatic.

Oil usage will be dependent on a lot of things, included throttle position as well as dip stick measurements can be off if taken on anything but a perfectly flat surface, and/or warm and cold.
